Luke's Quiz Philosophy
I believe a quiz night is supposed to be fun - it’s entertainment, after all!
I write all of my own questions, and then quality check them with a few volunteers (you can become a volunteer, as long as you never share the questions, and do not attend the quiz). My aim is that every team should get over 50% of the questions correct, I think you want to go home feeling like you knew more than you didn’t know. I periodically survey the regulars who attend my quizzes to make improvements, and believe I have the best quiz because of their contributions.
I supply pens and professionally designed answer sheets, and use a roving mic, so I can banter with the teams during the rounds. This also discourages cheating.
I aim for my quiz to be as accessible as possible, so I will never ask you to spell anything correctly or ask you to unscramble an anagram. If you have any access needs, please let me know before the quiz starts, and I will do my best to accommodate you.
All of this comes together to create a fun quiz night experience that everyone can enjoy.
Quiz Rules
- The Quiz master’s decision is final.
- No mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets, books, newspapers etc. The answers must come from yourselves.
- At the end of each round, swap your papers to be marked by another team.
- If you think your paper has been marked incorrectly, do not amend your score. See the quiz master to correct any mistakes.
- Teams may query the validity of a question or answer at any time prior to the announcement of the final scores. The quiz master reserves the right to award or remove points from any and every team as a result of this query.
- Teams entering after the end of round one will be given the same score as the lowest scoring team up until that point.
- By participating, you are deemed to have accepted these rules and any others communicated by the quiz master and agree to abide by them. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
- Unless the question is specifically about a foreign language, participants may answer in a foreign language and ask that the quiz master to translate.
- Teams that the quiz master deems to have an advantage over the other teams may be invited to accept a deficit or to sit out for a week to allow for a level playing field.
